An Introduction to Cosmetic Dentistry in General Practice

This course is aimed both at young colleagues and experienced practitioners who wish to introduce cosmetic dental services into their practices.

The material has been produced with the general dental practitioner in mind. While the inclusion of some theory is necessary to enable colleagues to make intelligent choices about treatment options the course concentrates on the 'how to'; giving step-by-step instructions on a variety of clinical techniques.

All the presentations rely heavily upon the concept of minimally-invasive dentistry. Information on orthodontic pre-alignment, the use of composite and hydroxy-apatite replacement is covered. Where indirect restorations are discussed this is in the context of minimal intervention.

Hands-on courses on subjects related to the lectures will be available separately. Further details will be provided.

The following daily program is subject to change but will cover all the topics listed. Sources of further study will be provided.

The first day gives a general overview of those cosmetic dental procedures that almost any general practitioner can provide with appropriate training. The second and third days look at specific techniques in more detail.
