You will also be given a free, sealed 'Dentist's Pack' containing all the information your dentist needs to help you obtain a Certificate of Competence after completing 6 supervised procedures and passing short written and oral examinations. This Certificate of Competence can be displayed at your practice and the audit can be used to strengthen your position with medico-legal societies should a complaint ever be made about you. The pack also contains prescription forms for your dentist to issue to comply with GDC regulations.

Avenue Road Dental Practice is situated in Freshwater, in the west of the lovely Isle of Wight. The closest ferry terminal is Yarmouth, Isle of Wight (about 2 miles away). Ferries also serve Fishbourne, Cowes and Ryde. Regular train services connect from the mainland.

Philip is well-known among professionals for his many articles in the dental press and as an Ambassador for the Mouth Cancer Foundation. An International lecturer, Philip speaks on clinical and practice management subjects all over the world. Philip Lewis is a Committee Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry as well as being a certified member of the European Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a Gold Member of the British Dental Bleaching Society and serves as a Media Spokesman for the British Dental Association. Philip is on the editorial boards of various UK dental magazines and writes extensively for the dental and consumer press with articles being published world-wide. He runs Avenue Road Dental Practice with the help of 2 dental hygienists and a dental therapist.

Reaching the Isle of Wight:

The car ferry services to the Island are expensive and it is recommended that unless you want full freedom to explore you leave your vehicle at the ferry port and cross as a foot passenger. Public transport on the Island is very good. Delegates arriving at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight can receive help with the short transfer to the Practice. About The Course:

This course was first presented in the UK in 2010. Since then it has been presented here and internationally. The course has been completely updated to comply with new European Directives and much new material has been added. This course is designed to help you develop as a dental professional and give you skills that will be valuable when promoting yourself to potential employers. From the dentist's point of view; dental hygienists and dental therapists providing tooth whitening services add a new income stream to the practice. This should be reflected in your remuneration.

Dental Nurses:

Dental nurses can of course assist other clinicians during the tooth whitening procedures. An understanding of procedures is essential to this but they can do much more.

These skills greatly reduce the time necessary for clinicians to complete the whitening process. Utilising these skills reduces clinician chair-side time and laboratory costs. This course will allow dental nurses to observe the lectures and hands-on elements of Lighten Up! at minimal cost. A further course including hands-on instruction for dentists and dental nurses is also available.
